Henna Crowns are one of my specialties, and I offer them free/by donation to the community. Women, men & children undergoing chemotherapy and radiation often lose their hair in the process. For some women, this transition is a painful and difficult time that affects self-esteem, feeling “less than a woman”. Henna crowns bring smiles back to faces, and a sense of self that helps their true beauty shine!
In 2007, Allura Henna was created between two friends, Allison and Laura.
I was introduced to henna through Laura, who had been an artist for several years. “You’d love it” she said. It took her months to get a cone in my hands. Once I did? I was obsessed. I picked up the art quite quickly and started studying everything that was accessible back then. I started attending Henna Caravan’s annual conference, which opened doors to a WHOLE COMMUNITY of henna artist from around the world.
My artistic background began as a young child, always drawing, doodling, painting, finding ways to color or make art. Henna has been a part of my life for almost 20 years now, and while I had to take a rest because of COVID, the desire to return never sat dormant for long.
The BEST part of doing henna is the connections made with my clients; hearing their stories and experiences. My goal in providing henna is to build confidence, open minds to new experiences, and use henna as a way to connect art to the heart.
I have a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and an education that includes outdoor recreation, earth sciences, pre-K & early childhood outdoor education. I love traveling, the beach, photography - taking LOTS of pictures along the way.
Aside from owning Allura Henna, I work and volunteer in two local non-profits, am a wife of 25 years to my amazingly supportive husband and mom to two incredibly bright & creative children, age 21 & 14, who are both incredible artists in their own right. Oh, did I mention I LOVE DOGS? Yep, and I have four of them…I just need a bigger farm to get more!
